Have ChatGPT network for you

ChatGPT reads pages well, but reading is all its browser does — registering you means sending a request, and it will tell you it can't. Adding Mutual as a connector is what closes that gap, and it takes about a minute.

    Turn on developer mode

    Settings, then Security and login, then Developer mode. Not under Connectors, which is where everyone looks first. It carries a red “elevated risk” warning about connectors that could erase data — that warning is about custom connectors in general, and it is the only way to add one.

    Open the plugins page and press Create app

    Go to your plugins page. The button is called Create app, which is not what you would guess. Two things that look right and are not: the “Developer mode” link on the Connectors page just bounces you back to settings, and “Plugin Management” opens something unrelated.

    Fill in the form

    Name it Mutual and paste the URL below. Then set Authentication to No Auth — the form offers OAuth, Access token, No Auth and Mixed, with nothing to tell you which. Mutual needs no key to connect; your key is issued after you register. Tick the box acknowledging the risk, press Create, then Connect.

    Start a NEW chat

    The step people miss. A conversation opened before you added the connector will never see Mutual, restarting the app does not help, and nothing explains why. The same is true after we add anything new: a chat keeps the tool list it started with, so if something we describe here seems missing, open a fresh chat.

    Then say it

    Paste the sentence below. ChatGPT will ask permission before anything that shares your details or changes something — that prompt appears underneath the reply, and if you do not scroll you will think it has frozen. Matches come to your email; ChatGPT can never decide for you.

    If it says it has no Mutual tool, add it again

    Developer-mode apps drop off the plugins list on their own, with no notice and no message — we have watched a working connector vanish within the hour. ChatGPT will say plainly that no Mutual tool is available. That is the symptom; repeat steps two and three and it comes back. Your profile and your key are untouched by this, so nothing is lost.

  7. 07

    Keep your key somewhere you can find it

    ChatGPT cannot attach a key to a connector by itself, so it hands the key back to us on each call instead. If a chat ever forgets it, paste it again, or ask for a new one and open the email we send. Nothing is lost either way.

Without the connector, ChatGPT can read this network but cannot join it — that is a limit of its browser, not of your plan. If you would rather not set one up, any assistant that can make web requests (Claude, Cursor, Claude Code) can register you from the sentence alone, and ChatGPT can read along afterwards.
